چکیده

Optical flow is usually computed only on the basis of intensity information of images. Therefore, if we use color information in addition to the intensity, it is expected that more accurate optical flow can be computed. However, this intuition will be correct only when the following conditions are satisfied. First, the images should contain rich color variations. Moreover, it is also required that the image gradient of each color band differs in its direction. In this report, we empirically examined the difference of gradient directions on each band using 500 images, and evaluated quantitatively the advantage of using color information for optical flow computation. key words: color image, RGB image, optical flow, image gradient

Computation Optical Flow Using Pipeline Architecture

Accurate estimation of motion from time-varying imagery has been a popular problem in vision studies, This information can be used in segmentation, 3D motion and shape recovery, target tracking, and other problems in scene analysis and interpretation. We have presented a dynamic image model for estimating image motion from image sequences, and have shown how the solution can be obtained from a ...

Probabilistic Color Optical Flow

Usually, optical flow computation is based on grayscale images and the brightness conservation assumption. Recently, some authors have investigated in transferring gradient-based grayscale optical flow methods to color images. These color optical flow methods are restricted to brightness and color conservation over time. In this paper, a correlation-based color optical flow method is presented ...

OFCat: An extensible GUI-driven optical flow comparison tool

OFCat is an extensible GUI-driven optical flow computation and analysis tool. The user can add their own image sequences, filtering, differentiating and optical flow techniques. OFCat can process both grayscale and color images. It implements a number of low-pass filtering and differentiating techniques. Many traditional optical flow extraction techniques are available, in addition to some nove...

OPTICAL FLOW: A CURVE EVOLUTION APPROACH - Image Processing, 1995. Proceedings., International Conference on

A novel approach for the computation of optical flow based on an L1 type minimization is presented. It is shown that the approach has inherent advantages since it does not smooth the flow-velocity across the edges and hence preserves edge information. A numerical approach based on computation of evolving curves is proposed for computing the optical flow field and results of experiments are pres...

Active 3d Surface Modeling Using Perception-based, Differential-geometric Primitives

Computational vision is about why a biological vision system functions as it does and how to emulate its performance on computers. The central topics of this thesis are how a differential geometry language can be used to describe the essential elements of visual perception in both 2D and 3D domains, and how the components of this geometric language can be computed in ways closely related to how...
